July 22, 2010
It is getting close to starting a new season of bowling.
Here is the schedule for the Secretary Workshops, just in case the centers
didn’t notify some of you secretaries. Alpine is the 31st of July at 2 p.m.;
Strikes (Elk Grove) is the 4th of August at 5 p.m.; Woodhaven is the 5th of
August at 6 p.m.; Mardi Gras is the 8th of August at 1 p.m.; Fireside is the
10th of August at 7 p.m.; Rocklin is the 14th of August at 3 p.m.; Strikes
(Rocklin) is the 17th of August at 6 p.m.; Capitol Bowl is the 20th of
August at 6 p.m.; Lake Bowl is the 21st of August at 1 p.m.; and Land Park
is the 22nd of August at 1 p.m. At this time Country Club hasn’t decided if
they are going to have a workshop.
There are a couple of league rule changes this year that you need to
implement. One is that the bank statements for your league have to be sent
to the President of the league. Second is that the treasurer needs to keep
his/her records for a year instead of 120 days.
Headquarters is getting ready for the new season so you won’t be able to use
some of the bowl.com features between the 30th of July and the 2nd of
August.
At the National Convention this year there wasn’t the cordial feeling that
the delegates normally have with headquarters. It has gotten to the place
where the local associations don’t trust the people at headquarters. The
only way the local associations can fight back is not pass legislation that
headquarters backs. That is what happened this year. Just about every piece
of legislation that USBC backed was defeated.
We will be getting the tournament entry forms for this season on sacbowl.com
in a week or two. Our first tournament will be the senior tournament at Lake
Bowl in Folsom. It will be on the 30th of September and the 1st and 2nd of
October. Lake Bowl has remodeled their center so you seniors come out and
bowl the tournament and see what they have done.
Our Installation Dinner is the 14th of August if any of you would like to
attend it. It is at Strikes in Rocklin. There are flyers available at the
office.
I will be seeing all you secretaries at the secretary workshops.
